  • 1. Will my dog be safe with you?
    The safety and well-being of every dog in our care is always our top priority. With a background as an NMC registered nurse, I fully understand this importance. I am a member of NarpsUK and have completed the NarpsUK Pet Sitting course, which included pet first aid, animal healthcare, pet nutrition, animal law and regulation. I am fully insured with Pet Business Insurance, which covers accidents and animal injury and public liability. I also hold a DBS certificate. In compliance with UK law, all dogs should be microchipped and be wearing a collar and ID tag. If your dog is neutered, we also request that you put 'I am neutered' on their ID tag, as this can reduce the risk of dog theft.
  • 2. Will I meet you before taking our dog for their first walk?
    Yes. We arrange a meet and greet before starting a dog walking contract. They last roughly 20 minutes. They give you and your dog a chance to meet me and to ensure that your dog is happy coming for walks. We will discuss: Your requirements How best to access the property to collect your dog when you are not home Where your pets’ things are kept (in one general area is advisable) Your pets likes and dislikes Where they are allowed to go in the home when you are not home Your pets feeding requirements If applicable, any health requirements.
  • 3. Where will my dog be walked?
    We will walk in open spaces and woodland areas around the Reading area.
  • 4. Will muddy paws be cleaned after walks?
    I carry water and towels to clean dogs down after their walks. This also allows for a quick mini-health check of the dog’s skin and coat.
  • 5. Will my dog be walked off the lead?
    This will be up to the walker’s discretion on the day and only with the owner's prior permission, having signed an off-the-lead disclaimer, and providing that the dog's recall is satisfactory.
  • 6. Who will my dog be walked with?
    Groups are kept small (max of two) and will be carefully selected with the breed, age, sex, personality and energy levels in mind.
  • 7. What areas do you cover?
    We cover a four-mile radius from central Reading, including Tilehurst, Southcote, Caversham and Emmer Green
  • 8. How will my dog be transported?
    Due to the number of dog thefts, your dog will be transported in an unmarked van to avoid unwanted attention. Inside the van, dogs will be transported in individual crates lined with bedding. The crates chosen are dark in colour, meaning dogs view them as a den and should feel safe and comfortable during transportation. Time in the van will be kept to a minimum.   • 9. Do you walk in all weathers?
    During warmer weather, dogs' risk of heatstroke increases. To reduce the risk of this, we will cancel the walk and notify you. You will not be charged if we cancel in this instance; however, we will offer an alternative service, such as pop-in-home visits, if required. Generally, we will keep to shaded areas for walks on warmer days. We also try to restrict running around and ensure plenty of drinking water is available.   • 10. What happens in the case of emergency?
    In the event of an emergency, we will immediately call you or your nominated emergency contact person if you are unavailable. I have had pet first aid training and carry a pet first aid kit. If your dog requires veterinary assistance, we will take your dog to your named vet or the nearest one.
  • 11. What if my dog dislikes one of the dogs on their walk?
    If we find an imbalance within a group and it is causing a problem, we will consult with you. We would look at changing the groups if deemed necessary.
  • 12. I am worried my dog may get sick or flea if exposed to many different dogs. Will they be okay?
    We require all owners to ensure that their dogs are updated with their annual vaccinations. As well as regular flea, tick and worming treatment.
  • 13. My male dog is not neutered. Will you be able to walk them?
    Unfortunately, no. Once a male dog reaches one year old, they must be neutered to continue walking.   • 14. My female dog isn't neutered. What happens when she comes into season? Will you take her out?
    Unfortunately, no. However, during this time, we would offer an alternative pop-in visit if required. This is due to the risk of male dog fights, and the female may stray to seek a male. We would have to temporarily suspend your dog walks until their season has finished and no longer give off a scent that attracts male dogs. This is usually a few weeks; however, in some cases, this can be up to a month. We also ask that if your dog has been neutered, their ID tag states 'I am neutered' as it can reduce the chances of theft.

  • 5. Will my cat, be allowed to go outside while I am away?
    Although it is always safer to keep cats indoors during their owner’s absence, we appreciate that this is not for everyone, and as you are aware of the risks, we will care for your cat(s) while they have access to the outdoors. We will not be held responsible for any loss of pets who have access to the outdoors. If your pet goes missing, we will continue to provide care visits for your cats until you return. We will notify your emergency contact that your pet is missing from home.
  • 1. How do I book?
    Please send a message via the contact us section, email, or phone call to check availability for your chosen dates. Providing the following information in your initial message will enable us to handle your booking more efficiently: Pet name, breed, age and sex Details of your requirements, including how many days per week and which days Information about your pet, for example, likes/dislikes, medical conditions and allergies. Your name and contact information If this is your first time contacting us, the next step is a meet and greet. This will be arranged to give you and your pet a chance to meet me and to ensure that your pet is happy. Meet and greets last roughly 20 minutes. We will discuss: Your requirements How best to access the property to collect your dog when you are not home Where your pets’ things are kept (in one general area is advisable) Your pets likes and dislikes Where they are allowed to go in the home when you are not home Your pets feeding requirements If applicable, any health requirements.
  • 2. Do you require a deposit?
    Yes, an initial non-refundable deposit will be taken on signing the booking service agreement. The initial deposit for dog walking will be the first week's walks in advance. The initial deposit for cat and small animal sitting services will be 20% of the total cost of the booking. The remaining balance is due when the agreed service is scheduled to start.
  • 3. How is payment made/taken?
    Payment will be made via a bank transfer. Invoices will be sent out via email. Dog walking is paid for in advance for the following week. Pet sitting payment is due on the service start date.
  • 4. What is your cancellation policy?
    Cancellation detail can be found in our service contract. 100% of fees are payable if cancellation occurs less than 48 hours before the scheduled service 50% of fees are payable if cancellation occurs between 48 hours and 14 days before the scheduled service
